During the last years we notice an increase in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Nonetheless, aortic diseases still present a high mortality. This complex scenario makes that management of aortic disorders needs a multidisciplinary approach, with cardiologist, cardiac and vascular surgeons. This is the main goal of the Multidisciplinary Aortic Disease Unit from San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid, Spain, directed by Dr. Isidre Vilacosta, Dr. Luis Maroto and Dr. Javier Serrano. This unit sums more than 3,000 patients attended in the consultation room, and more than 2,000 surgeries in an experience of more than 12 years.
One of the main characteristics of aortic diseases is the need of a multidisciplinary team to manage these disorders. Thus, not only Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons and Vascular Surgeons, but also physicians of Internal Medicine, Pathology, Emergencies, Intensive Care, Radiology or Nuclear Medicine are involved in the management of aortic diseases. This meeting is arranged to encourage all cardiovascular physicians and scientists to share their experiences on the latest innovations in aortic diseases.
We have the pleasure of inviting you to this International Meeting on Aortic Disease. We thank your assistance and hope you enjoy the day.
